Did you know that there are almost 500 nursing homes certified to participate in the Music and Memory program?
As part of this initiative, the HHSC Office of the Quality Monitoring Program (QMP) teamed up with Music and Memory and the Texas Chapters of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) to assist homes with student volunteers to help make the program successful. As part of this HHSC QMP developed a curriculum for high school students titled, “A Snapshot on Aging and Dementia”. The curriculum was developed to raise awareness with our youth, undo the stereotype of ageism, address the many myths about aging and highlight positive relationships with older adults. Featured in the video are Lake Travis High School, Akins High School and The Arbour at Westminster in Austin, TX.
