Mindy Fried, M.S.W., Ph.D created The Shape of Care: A Podcast About Caregiving. As a sociologist with 30 years of experience conducting research, teaching, and conducting policy analysis on organizational and workplace issues, Dr. Fried has taken her passion to the ever-popular podcast world. With nearly 20 episodes, she dives into the complex universe of caregiving and covers topics ranging from Caregiving in the Time of Corona to Alzheimer’s Disease to Homophobia in Elder Care.
Season 2 just launched and is 3 episodes deep. “Season 2 begins with intimate stories of care workers and the people they care for. But their issues are larger than just one story. We connect these personal and compelling stories to the broader policy landscape – through interviews with nursing home leaders, policymakers, union activists, and more. And we ask: What kinds of long term care policies do we need so that anyone can receive quality, affordable care?” Educational podcasts like this one help empower the movement of person-centered quality care.
